Ballygate Garden Room

client: Private
engineer: Fran Bowler
status: Completed 2012
value: £80,000
role: Structural Engineers
duration: 6 months

Working with the Clients and a local architect we provided structural design and advice for the removal of an existing timber conservatory and the construction of a new garden room.

The property is Grade 2 listed and within the conservation area. The design had to allow for building against the original house where there is a basement immediately below. The room was designed with a steel frame and masonry clad with a steel and timber roof supporting the lantern. The client employed a contractor to complete the shell of the building and undertook the internal decoration themselves.
