The Foreign and Commonwealth Office is grade I Listed, designed by George Gilbert Scott and Matthew Digby Wyatt to house the Government Offices for the India Office, Foreign Office, the Colonial Office and the Home Office.  The building complex was constructed between 1862 and 1879 and today is used as the headquarters for the FCO.

We have provided structural engineering services on a number of projects within the building including the following:

  • Provision of new open plan office accommodation for the UK Borders Agency;
  • New Media Suite;
  • FCO Olympic team accommodation;
  • Various departmental moves;

In each of the above projects we have been appointed early in the design development, working closely with the design team to provide a fully coordinated design solution.  Each project has needed to consider the sensitivity of the area being worked in, with the structural details being designed accordingly.
