New Oak Bridge (Stowe Gardens)

client: National Trust
engineer: Edward Morton

Following competitive tender and as part of our continued work assisting the National Trust at Stowe Landscaped Gardens, we were requested carry out a feasibility to provide a new wooden bridge to reinstate a crossing point where a bridge had existed several hundred years previously. Following a desktop assessment of historic information and prints a range of design options were prepared taking into account durability, future maintenance and appropriate accessibility.

Once the bridge design was finalised the work to construct and install the new bridge was negotiated with a specialist contractors and completed in 2012 as part of the new visitor circular walk.
