The project consisted of the refurbishment of this Grade I Listed Museum, including careful dismantling of a considerable portion of a medieval masonry wall to form a double-height link gallery incorporating an existing external courtyard into the museum area.

The link gallery has a glass roof with fabricated tapered steel beams incorporating a concealed gutter system. The glass roof gives light to the wide expanse of the medieval masonry wall below.

The works also involved the re-design of the exhibition cases to improve the overall museum experience. Additional lines of support were required from the basement where heavy cases are located.
