Jubilee Bridge
A new footbridge spanning 28m to connect the Christ Church Meadow, a Grade I Listed landscape, to the playing fields on Iffley Road. The bridge is on the site of an historic ferry crossing over the Cherwell River, previously decommissioned due to safety concerns.
We acted as lead consultant on this project and were responsible for providing a number of different bridge options for approval. The contemporary curved steel arrangement was chosen and then we secured planning consent and administered the Contract.
The curved steel structure provides support for an Eki boarded walkway. The bridge abutments are supported on piles and pilecaps designed to accommodate the horizontal reactions applied by the arching bridge.
